Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium was introduced by the Department of Education in 2011. It is additional funding allocated to the school to support groups of children who are entitled to free school meals and those looked after by the Local Authority.

The purpose of the extra funding is intended for use to provide additional resources from outside the School's Budget to accelerate progress and raise attainment.

In most cases the Pupil Premium is allocated to school and is clearly identifiable. It is the school's decision as to how the Pupil Premium is spent as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families. New measures will be included in the performance tables that will capture the achievement of those deprived pupils covered by the Pupil Premium.

At St Clare's we are committed to helping every child and their family achieve their very best, by providing a well-resourced and high quality learning environment.
